Awkward Silencio is a production company based in Calgary, AB specializing in cutting-edge genre cinema. Founded in 2004 by Cameron Macgowan, Awkward Silencio has been making films for almost 15 years with the completion of their first feature film RED LETTER DAY in 2018 with a planned 2019 release.

Awkward Silencio aims to deliver quality satire entertainment on a small budget. With our previous work having screened at over 30 international film festivals in 12 countries across the world, we deliver genre films on a world-wide scale.

Cameron Macgowan (Managing Partner)

Cameron Macgowan is a Canadian filmmaker whose eccentric films have explored subjects ranging from Murderous Suburbanites to Erotic Trolls. His work has won awards and garnered critical acclaim at international film festivals across the world including SXSW, Fantasia, and the Toronto International Film Festival.

His highly successful short film Liebe (Love) screened at 25 film festivals and was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick garnering the film over 130,000 views. Cameron is also a Lead Programmer with the Calgary Underground Film Festival, the Executive Director of the New University Television Society, a member of the Canadian film collective North Country Cinema and Founder/Managing Partner of Awkward Silencio.

Heather Campbell (Managing Partner)

Heather Campbell is an artist and arts administrator whose work explores the complexities of modern life. A graduate from the Alberta College of Art and Design, Heather splits her time between creating her own work and producing the work of other artists. Heather has a wide range of experience in film production and a rich knowledge of the arts in Alberta.

Current accomplishments include project management duties with the arts collective Sans façon, artist relations with the 2018 Wreck City residency, guest relations with the Calgary Underground Film Festival and arts administration with the City of Calgary Public Art Program.
